Welcome to April and the season of Renewal and New Beginnings. There are several holidays this month, not the least of which is Easter which happens to be rather late in the month.  It always amazes me how the date varies so much from year to year.

Besides Easter and Passover, April is also Jazz Appreciation Month and the month where we celebrate Earth Day. And, after a bitterly cold Winter, I personally feel like celebrating seeing the sun on more than 50% of the days, and the 40-60 degree weather we've had over the last several weeks. Something about the sunshine just seems to lift our spirits and fill us with an energy we may have felt was lost for good on some of the more cold and drab days of Winter.  If you've been thinking of remodeling your kitchen, you'll find some great articles on remodeling in this issue of HomeZone as well as some useful information on the New Tax Law! As always, if you're thinking of putting your home on the market, I am always available to answer any question you may have. Have a wonderful April!

Tax Deductions For Homebuyers - Are Closing Costs Tax Deductible Under The New tax law?

Here's the Scoop on What's Tax Deductible When Buying a House

Are closing costs tax deductible? What about mortgage interest? Or Property Taxes?  The answer is, maddeningly, "It depends."

Basically you'll want to itemize if you have deductions totaling more than the standard deduction, which is $12,000 for single people and $24,000 for married couples filing jointly. Every tax payer
