Welcome to the Month of May!!!  As the saying goes, "April Showers Bring May Flowers," and we sure did have our share of showers, so I think we're all looking forward to all those flowers.

The merry month of May means celebrating Spring in full Swing!  It also may surprise you to know (as it did me) that there are a number of seasonal, foodie, and pop culture days in May, not the least of which is Mother's Day and Cinco de Mayo.

It is also the month of National Paranormal Day, National Brothers and Sisters Day, and my favorite National No Diet Day, among about 65 more National and World days of celebration.

Whichever of those you choose to celebrate, and however you choose to celebrate them, I hope May will turn out to be your favorite month of the year so far!

12 Sustainable Gardening Ideas
Create a more earth-friendly garden by planting for pollinators, ditching pesticide use and more!

In addition to creating inspiring outdoor spaces and dreamworthy gardens, landscape designers and architects also make our yards more sustainable and earth-friendly. We spoke with several landscape designers on Houzz who described how installing rain gardens, converting lawns to native meadows, planting low-water gardens and utilizing other practices can result in beautiful gardens with environmental benefits.

Down Payment Dilemma:
 - How Do You Know How Much to Put Down On A Home?

For many prospective home buyers, the down payment is the most daunting hurdle in the race to buy a home. Even for people with decent credit and a healthy paycheck, the down payment can be the great homeownership killer.

The big question for all prospective buyers is: how much should my down payment be? Most lenders will tell you that 20 percent is the standard, but is that really necessary?

The short answer is no, but of course there are some caveats.
